Josh Shealy
Landscape Manager & Manager of Hardscape Installation
Josh is a Halifax County, VA native. He earned an associate’s degree from Southside Virginia Community College in 2007 and joined our team in 2011.
He has an exquisite attention to detail and his passion and vision for creating and designing our customers’ landscape is a direct result as to why he is one of our leading managers. In 2013, when the company decided to become more competitive with developing and providing hardscape installation, he quickly carried over his position attributes in landscape design and applied it to the hardscape division.
He has attended and completed numerous trainings, including the National Hardscape Institute and the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Installation training. He loves that every project provides the opportunity to create something new and aesthetically pleasing.
Jon Hall
Anderson Turf Management Manager
Jon has served as a turf management consultant to our company since 2011. We were fortunate to welcome Jon as a full-time employee in 2018. With an advance associate’s degree (AAS) in turf management from Wayne County Community College (Goldsboro, NC) and over a decade of experience in the sports turf industry, he brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and innovative ideas to our sister company, Anderson Turf Management.
His passion for turf management began while helping work on his high school baseball field in Swansboro, NC. After completing college, he traveled the East Coast overseeing turf management at numerous minor league baseball stadiums from Georgia to Virginia, including the local Danville (VA) Otterbots (formerly Braves).
Prior to coming to Anderson Turf Management, he was tasked with turf responsibilities for all the athletic facilities at Hampden Sydney College (Farmville, VA).
Marcus Ballano
Landscape Project Coordinator
In 2013, Marcus joined our team and his self-taught techniques and vision have been a valuable asset for our company’s creative designs that are provided for each of our unique customers.
He is a Georgia native but was raised in Manassas, VA, where at the age of 16 he began his career in the colorful world of landscape design at a Betty's Azalea Ranch in Fairfax, VA. His passion, creativity and imagination led him to a warmer climate in Florida where he spent two decades working in the landscape industry and managing several different nurseries in and around the Tampa Bay and Sarasota areas.
Additionally, he maintains his certification in pesticide, aquatic and right-of-way applications.
As a native of Halifax County, VA, Kim graduated from Halifax County High School and then pursued her career path in business by obtaining her bachelor's degree in business administration from Averett University (Danville, VA).
She began her career with Charles Anderson Lawn Care Service in 2003. She is responsible for overseeing the daily operations in the business office.
She is a valuable member of the team and her commitment and passion for success is evident by her tenure with the company.
Dave Sinnott
Fleet Manager
Born and raised in New Jersey, Dave has called Halifax County, VA home for over 10 years.
With a bachelor’s degree in management from Catawba College (Salisbury, NC), he has overseen the maintenance and fleet programs with the company for approximately four years.
Prior to joining the Charles Anderson Lawn Care Service family, he was the logistics manager and lead mechanic at Camp Motorsports in Clover, VA. Along with over 15 years of mechanical experience, he also possesses over 14 years of equipment operator experience, which is crucial to our company.
Casey Spencer
Maintenance / Lawn Care Manager
As a Halifax County, VA native, Casey joined our team in 2021 and quickly advanced through the ranks to become our maintenance/lawn care manager.
After graduating from Halifax County High School, he attended Radford University (VA) and earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a minor in psychology.
He owned and operated several successful businesses in the Halifax County area where he gained the valuable management skills needed for his role within our company.
Additionally, he served as the logistics coordinator for Sunshine Mills in Halifax, VA, which has proven to be invaluable in day-to-day operations.
Tim VanAernem
Operations Coordinator
Born and raised in Upstate New York, Tim graduated from the Onondaga Community College (Syracuse, NY) with an associate degree in criminal justice.
He moved to Halifax County, VA in 1998, and after 23 years of service with the South Boston Police Department, he retired in 2020.
He joined the company in 2021. His experience and techniques in management, operational planning and leadership that he developed in his law enforcement career have proven to be an effective and valuable asset to our team.
As the operations coordinator, he is tasked with many daily responsibilities, which include employee safety, training, inventory control and business development.
Charles Anderson
President
Charles was born and raised in Halifax County, VA and is the owner and founder of Charles Anderson Lawn Care Service, Inc.
He started the company in 1983 by mowing a few lawns on a part-time basis to make extra money while also having a full-time job at a local business.
He began developing a loyal customer base, which allowed him the opportunity to hire his first employee – his mother!
Over the next several years, what started out as a part-time business venture was turned into a successful full-time professional lawn care company.
The company has since grown to over 30 full-time employees and has transformed over the years into the most recognizable lawn care and landscaping companies in the region.
Bruce Anderson
Vice President & Operations Manager
Bruce was born and raised in Halifax County, VA and graduated from Halifax County High School in 2002. He attended Danville Community College and earned an associate degree in criminal justice there.
In 2004, while continuing his education as a full-time student at Danville, he also worked full-time for his father’s (Charles) company.
It was immediately clear that he possessed the same work ethic and attention to detail that his father had when he first started the company in 1983. His ability to manager others, along with his positive and effective leadership style has helped create an environment and company culture that has attracted the best TEAM (Bruce’s favorite word) of workers in the industry.
His passion for the company to always be the #1 lawn and landscape company in the area, and to always provide the highest quality work to achieve client satisfaction, has proven to be an extremely successful and powerful attribute.
With the help and support of his father, he has nurtured and steered Charles Anderson Lawn Care Service, Inc. from a part-time business venture into the company it is today.
